How to do E-mail Marketing

Build up Database:
Very important. Often we mistook directory as database, there is no
use of bigger list, non relevant and non targeted email addresses do heavy damage to your
efforts, as they are more likely to report you as spammer to their ISP and email service
providers, blacklisting you.

Format Database:  Use Microsoft Excel or notepad with delimiters if you don’t have a
database guy. Fields like Nae, Last Name, Salutation, Address, email addresses should
be checked with caution.

Secure your Database:  Data security for SME is just not from thieves or competitors, but
also from  dumb good guy, he or she can actually mess up whole thing. I know a company
who become the victim of this silly mistake and lost many employees right from CEO to
receptionist for a database of just 400 odd contacts.

Compose Email:  Compose your matter for email as and when required and format it in
HTML, RTF or Plain text, I prefer RTF. HTML looks fine but very often stimulates Spam
guards. Many Email Service providers would like to make an argue on it, but this my
personal experience.

Choose SMTP and POP Servers:  Most of the Smart Asses use fake email addresses and
Desktop Relay Servers and real POP. This misadventure often ends up in labeling your
website and IP address listed in spammer list. This attempt to saving money and data
proves to be a costly proposition. Your e-mail marketing expert after studying your demand
and market will suggest or adopt a suitable email server.
